Statement of Inclusion
Our Collective’s Statement of Inclusion
We are deliberate in how we engage with others. This community is collectively managed, creatively curated, and growing carefully and with intention to create a positive impact online the workplace, online and irl.
Collective Flow Consulting maintains that businesses have a responsibility to improve our world. With that, it is important for coFLOWco to be both socially and environmentally responsible which requires that our design and infrastructure be co-created to ensure inclusivity. We want our community—collaborators, clients and colleagues—to reflect the diversity of our world.
We embody “leading with purpose” by showing our everyone (colleagues, contractors, vendors, community, mentors, and partners) that inclusive, equitable, just, and accessible practices and processes are possible for any organization, no matter how small, and that it’s never to early to start creating policies that represent the workplace culture you envision.
Our workplace welcomes people with disabilities. We invite new hires, community members, and clients to share information about accommodations or adjustments we can make to help everyone do their best working with The Collective: coFLOWco, FLOWLab, Collective Flow Publishing Co.
We go the extra mile to go outside our network and our comfort zone. When one human is harmed or barred from success, it impacts everyone.
We create work that is inclusive at all levels, from hiring to presentations. Everyone has a voice to improve or edit our processes.
We provide and share our resources, research and findings openly, including policies like this one.
We invest fiscally in diverse organizations that promote causes aimed at lifting up marginalized communities, both socially and economically.
We promote access to opportunities by partnering with schools, recruiters, platforms, programs, and social networks that reach a wider audience.
We consume diverse media and follow diverse experts in every subject.
We remove barriers to access, education, and economic prosperity within our community by starting with our internal coFLOWco community.
We provide apprenticeships and professional development opportunities to every employee.
We continually reassess our language and practices to ensure we are using the latest vetted, anti-racist information.
Our words, processes, and deliverables are designed to be non-harming to those in our community and the world at large.
We build as a collective, co-creating our values, and making decisions democratically.
In addition, we provide resources, toolkits, and a coFLOWco bookstore to ensure our community has free access to anti-racist, ethical, decolonized, gender-inclusive content and programs.
Is coFLOWco a “DEI” consultancy?
Nope. We are a management consultancy. Our services include communications, brand strategy, creative operations, and business development and build socially responsible companies from the start.
Our #1 goal: help mission-driven leaders make it past the startup phase to create an inclusive economy. But, teaching negotiation tactics or telling a person to speak up in meetings won’t suddenly create equity.
It falls on all of us to embed Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice, and Accessibility in everything we do. For us, DEI is not one department or job function and it cannot be an afterthought. It’s not HR’s responsibility or that of a CDO or the Black and Brown employees’ job. We embed DEIJA into your brand communications and day-to-day operations.
We believe in order to build organizations differently we have to start with a different foundation.
For coFLOWco, that means being familiar with all the ways in which design, communication, organizational development, and business can perpetuate old power structures and alienate and exclude people who have already been excluded for far too long.
It means continually expanding our sphere of influence, our feed, and our network of experts. It means tying social impact to your P&L, creating goals, gathering metrics and measuring your social impact.
Journalism, academic, research, design, and tech, and every other sphere of “content” creation was designed to amplify patriarchal ideas and ideals.
Business and economics were designed to help white men succeed, and do so at the expense and exploitation of everyone else. If we want equal pay and equal opportunity, we must tackle the broader systems change work required to make the workplace equitable.
We unpack how small businesses survive, how big businesses thrive, and prepare you for what you’re up against.
We are design thinkers, business advisors, operations experts, and brand strategists who know DEI is more than an acronym.
We are writers and researchers learning from the experts. We include people with diverse skills.
We are multidisciplinary polymaths. You are the SME whether it’s an SaaS startup or new DEI consultancy; we are your backup.
Together we build organizations that prioritize people and planet and create workplaces that don’t suck.
If you need to hire a DEI firm to teach anti-racism, facilitate mediation, conscious bias training, or ensure you are ADA compliant, reach out for our list of experts (part of our membership Collective). And remember, pay people for their labor.
